Frequently Asked
Questions
Can't find your answer? Email us at info@broadwayboundjax.com
Do I need prior performing arts training or experience to enter? +
Not at all. Broadway Bound Jax is open to any teen between the ages of 13 and 19. Whether you've trained for years or simply have a gift and the courage to share it, you are welcome on this stage. Talent takes many forms, and we celebrate all of them.
Can I perform in more than one category? +
No. Each performer may compete in one category only. Please choose the category that best showcases your talent. The $25 registration fee covers your single category entry.
What is the registration deadline? +
Registration closes on November 30, 2026. We strongly encourage early registration.
How does the audition process work? +
After registering, all participants will receive a confirmation email followed by a notification with their assigned live audition time slot. Live auditions will be held in December 2026. Based on audition performances, selected participants will advance to the main stage competition in February 2027.
Where will the auditions and competition take place? +
Both the auditions and the main stage competition will be held in Jacksonville, Florida. Venue details will be announced and communicated to all registered participants.
Can family and friends attend the competition? +
Yes — the main stage competition is a ticketed event open to the public. All family members and friends, including those accompanying competitors, must purchase a ticket to attend. Ticket details, pricing, and how to purchase will be announced closer to the competition date. Stay tuned to our social media and email communications for updates.
Can parents or guests come backstage or into the audition room? +
No. For the safety, focus, and fairness of all participants, no parents, guardians, or guests are permitted backstage during the main stage competition or inside the audition room during live auditions. Competitors will be directed by our team upon arrival. We appreciate your cooperation in creating the best possible environment for every performer.
Who wins the grand prize? +
The Grand Prize — $2,000 cash, a trip to New York City to see a live Broadway show, and a private one-on-one Broadway coaching session — is awarded to one overall winner: the performer with the highest combined score across all five judging criteria. All categories compete for the same prize. There is no separate winner per category.
How long can my performance be? +
All performances must not exceed 3 minutes. Timing begins at your first note or movement and ends at your final pose or word. Performances that exceed 3 minutes will be stopped by the stage manager. We recommend timing your piece in rehearsal and cutting it down if needed.
What should I perform? +
You may perform any age-appropriate, family-friendly material — an original piece or published work from musical theatre, film, television, or otherwise. All content must be suitable for audiences of all ages. Material containing profanity, explicit themes, or inappropriate content will result in disqualification.
Do I need to submit my music in advance? +
Yes. If your performance requires a backing track, it must be submitted in MP3 or WAV format at least 14 days before the competition date. Tracks must be edited for content — no explicit lyrics. Microphones will be provided for vocalists.
Who are the judges? +
Our judging panel will be announced at a later date. All judges are industry professionals. Every performer — regardless of category — is scored on the same five criteria: Technique, Stage Presence, Artistry, Showmanship, and Overall Impact, each out of 10 (50 points maximum). The performer with the highest total score wins the Grand Prize. There is one winner. Judging decisions are final.

Sherrod T. Brown is a Broadway artist currently performing in the cast of Cats: The Jellicle Ball on Broadway — the acclaimed production that earned 9 Tony Award nominations in 2026, including Best Revival of a Musical.

He made his Radio City Music Hall debut as a featured soloist alongside Hugh Jackman in Jackman's celebrated residency From New York with Love. He also made his national tour debut in Jesus Christ Superstar — the Tony Award–nominated musical — performing the dual roles of Simon and Judas.

A trailblazer beyond the footlights, Sherrod made history as the first male NBA dancer and cheerleader for the Orlando Magic, and has performed internationally across Africa, Europe, Canada, and Mexico. He has worked alongside Grammy Award–winning artists including Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey.

For a decade, Sherrod served as the owner and creative director of The Posh Factory Performing Arts Center, Inc. — recognized as one of Florida's Top 20 Business Owners Under 40 — before leaving to join the national tour of Jesus Christ Superstar. That same passion for cultivating young talent drives Broadway Bound Jax.
